The Planning division of Community Development has the task of ensuring proper enforcement of the City of Aspen Land Use Code. The Land Use Code addresses a wide variety of topics ranging from affordable housing, signage, the Growth Management Quota System (GMQS), and temporary use approvals. Current Planning involves creating land use recommendations for the City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Board of Adjustment. Long Range Planning includes more "big picture" projects that usually involve public engagement.
